This elegant sidesword features space in the ricasso to place your finger over the cross, a slender blade with appropriate flexibility, and yet sufficient stiffness for any action where you must “beat” the opponent’s blade aside. With the point of balance being close to the ricasso, it’s easy to molinet; meanwhile, the 2-pound overall weight ensures that you can cut with ease and “feel” what the sword needs from you.

The sidesword is solid, weighted nicely, and has good flex to it. It did not arrive perfect: the blade has a very slight warp to it, but not out of the realm of what is normal for synthetics, and the tip of the pommel was damaged, likely in transit... but a little work with a file smoothed out the jagged edge. The last thing: the guard does not touch the pommel, but comes very close - so close that when you hit your sword against another blade, it makes a "ting" noise from the guard flexing and bumping into the pommel (the guard isn't loose at all, the metal just flexes when hit). Was slightly jarring at first, but after I figured out it wasn't a problem, it's fine.
Still, the slight issues don't even remove a star from this blade for me - it's a lot of fun, and very sturdy!
