CHFG

"Raphael" Heavy Clamshell Gloves

$190

We currently have an upgraded version of the gloves in regular size that use the thumbs from the Michael gloves and have a plastic clip to hold the wrist elastic in place. XL gloves are discounted until we sell out, then we will order upgraded XL gloves as well!

This is the economy heavy glove option from CHFG. They provide more dexterity than your average heavy glove all while at a more affordable price. The thumbs include removeable caps for additional protection. The caps may be a little tight/rough for some people if you have large thumbs, so please be aware of this.

Right out of the box these gloves offer more mobility than most other mitten glove we have used before, which only increases as you break them in further. The thumb rests against the hilt fully grounding out to provides a high level of protection while the overlapping plates on the knuckles protect against those hits you somehow failed to parry. The plates are also low profile enough to fit in most saber hilts, bucklers, or other spots you can generally cram a heavy glove into. These gloves are also very light, coming in at under 2 lbs for the pair.

Each pair comes with a bag of replacement parts, and more replacement parts are available from us if requested.

For sizing, measure around the palm and the width across the fingers (when gently touching each other), then refer to the sizing listed below:

drawing of a hand with a tape measuring the size

Large: Width around palm 23 cm / 9 inches or less, finger width 8 cm / 3.15 inches
X-Large: Width around palm 23 cm / 9 inches or more, finger width 8-9 cm / 3.15 to 3.54 inches

Weight: 1 lb 13 oz

Good gloves

I feel nothing. Not the joy of new love. Not the loss of a family member passing away. Nothing. Great gloves.

Very good, especially for the price

These gauntlets are pretty lightweight while also providing very good protection; I’ve taken multiple hits to the hands while practicing longsword and I really can’t complain!

They have this ideal balance between too little and too greatly protected (if that’s a thing) that makes them very good for practice- I’ve noticed that on thicker gloves, I can’t feel at all when my hands have been hit, which makes it hard to gauge when a point is scored or when I’ve made myself too open to my opponent.

Also there is a good amount of adjustability with the drawstring at the wrist. Do recommend.

Very light, very tight

I do like these gloves, but the sizing guide is way off. I measured and ordered based on the recommendations and they are soo small. The gloves themselves are good, but feel fragile. I'm not sure if they will hold up in an actual spar. I really like the thumb design and the overall feel of them.
