The padded fencing gloves are intended to provide protection from light/incidental hits to the hand as well as to prevent burrs from rubbing against your hands while sparring. The palms of the gloves have an extra-durable layer added to them to help prevent the wear/holes that commonly develop on gloves of this type. Many people purchase these for use both in drilling and in tournament fighting. WARNING: You can break fingers through these gloves if you aren’t careful.

Solid product, excellent value

I love these gloves for lighter fencing, particularly smallsword and dueling saber. Probably good for rapier but I haven’t tried it yet. They’re great for light drilling with other weapons but not for heavy sparring! I wear them for full contact smallsword and they’re great. Nicely constructed, good grip on the palm and the stitching feels durable. A word about sizing: I ordered a large because our club has many of these and large fits me well, but this large feels small. I wear a medium SupFen Impact Resistant Gloves and these feel small in a size L. I recommend going up one size based on the measurement chart.
