"Michael" Heavy Clamshell Gloves

$280

Only 3 pieces in stock!

**The newest batch of Michaels are here. They no longer have a split finger design, instead there is one large pocket for all fingers and there is more grip added to the fingers to help you hang on to your sword!**

What a time to do HEMA! These low-profile mittens by CHFG offer incredible protection AND dexterity. A combo we thought was impossible is finally a reality!

Right out of the box these gloves offer more mobility than any other mitten glove we have used before, which only increases as you break them in further. The fully enclosed thumb provides a high level of protection while the overlapping plates on the knuckles protect against those hits you somehow failed to parry. The plates are also low profile enough to fit in most saber hilts, bucklers, or other spots you can generally cram a heavy glove into.

Every set of gloves comes in a carrying bag and includes replacement parts, with more parts available by request.

For sizing, measure around the palm and the width across the fingers (when gently touching each other), then refer to the sizing listed below:

drawing of a hand with a tape measuring the size

Large: Width around palm 23 cm / 9 inches or less, finger width 8 cm / 3.15 inches
X-Large: Width around palm 23 cm / 9 inches or more, finger width 8-9 cm / 3.15 to 3.54 inches

Great gloves

Very happy with these. Great dexterity, especially in the thumb. Some of the attachment points between the hard shell and under glove will definitely need stronger cord eventually and the rubber grip spots on the under glove immediately started falling off, but they feel unnecessary to begin with

Excellent gloves!

I love how protected I feel in the Michael gloves! My only complaint is that most of the little grippy dots all came off immediately—like on the first use.

Terrific Beginner Gloves

Absolutely love these gloves. They look great and their protective ability is incredible. Surprisingly, despite being a mitt/clamshell style glove, the finger mobility is mostly unhindered for longsword. The “one pocket” style that they went with gives you just enough room to adjust your grip on the fly, BUT it must be said that some moves are a little more difficult to pull off admittedly.

If you’re a beginner, then take this advice from one beginner to another: if you’re deciding between these or the Gabriels, get the Michaels. Yes, they may not look as cool as the five finger gauntlet, but you know what’s really cool? Having unbroken fingers.

Great Clamshells in my opinion. -TR

So far ive used them a few times, which of course it'll be a while to see how well they hold up, but so far they look cool, feel very comfortable, and my biggest like is the thumb mobility. I was using a pair of clamshells from my club and it was bulky to where it made it uncomfortable to fence with which can just be me, now that I can move my thumb how I wish [ and can feel my fingers thanks to not having that split stitch between my fingers ] I feel more mobile , I can also do underhand cuts with more ease, the pair I used previously made it where I couldn't really get a low cut, now I can . Also im talking of longsword of course. But in all, great mobility, great defense, great looks, all in one package. Also thanks for the stickers those were a nice suprise. Have a good day and I hope this helps -TR
