Shoddy, Bent, and Rusted

For $300+, and this being my first steel trainer, I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth after receiving it. When I opened the package, the sword had already begun to rust, the pommel was loose, the quillion block is entirely off center to the left, the blade is bent to the right, and the filing work on the hilt is some of the worst I have ever seen with plenty of tarnishing along the cross guard. I understand that this is a weapon made for training so it’s not meant to be beautiful, but I was left rather perplexed by the condition my sword was shipped in. After using it only two times, for a total of roughly 4 hours over the last few weeks, I’ve now taken a serious bend to the right that I can’t seem to correct. I’m not sparring very hard, and I’m not abusing the sword in any other way. I have only been taking it to my club one day a week. Very disappointed. So far, I do not recommend buying from this shop, or even from Black Fencer at all.

Phenomenal First Sidesword

I’d like to say that this sidesword handles beautifully. The blade is smooth once I first got it so much that I felt guilty to bring it to sparring practice. It takes a flick to make the ASMR sword whoosh sound but is very soft hitting and fun to do windmill cuts with. Satisfied would be an understatement to how I feel about this sword.

Love it

My first pair of Sideswords. I showed them to my instructor and he LOVED them. Highly recommend.
