Simply Magnificent

I absolutely love this sword. It fits in my hands perfectly and the cordage is wrapped nice and tight enough to practice with, even with sweaty palms. The balance is excellent and the overall weight makes it feel like the sword sings in my hands when I swing it.

The only real issue I have with the sword is that there were a few spots of rust on the blade. It's not a huge problem since I'll look into buffing it out later when I find time to do so, but it was a bit of a disappointment when I opened my package and saw the rust.

Great Beginner Sword

Arrived quickly and in great condition. Handles well compared to the few other swords I've handled, and that's coming from someone who's defiantly just a inch or two shorter than the height this sword was intended for. I'm about 5'5, or 165cm and it reaches the upper area of my armpit. Despite that, as I said previously, it handles wonderfully and has made my at-home practice, both solo and with my partner, a lot more enjoyable and meaningful compared to the wooden trainers we were using previously. I've taken a few good hit's from it during my practice, and so has my training partner, and we've both felt safe within the proper gear.

I'll note, I haven't had the opportunity to use it in sparring yet but it leaves me eager for the opportunity. As I said above, it supplements my training well and was exactly what I was looking for for my first HEMA sword.

Very nice

This is probably the best value for money on the market when it comes to a blunt longsword. Blade is a "real" type XVI with an actual profile rather than being a flat steel bar with a fuller, and has significant distal taper that contributes to really sweet-feeling and accurate handling dynamics. While its dimensions are around the upper limit of longswords in historical period, this works well in practice considering the greater average height of people today and the fact that you can get both hands on it in heavy clamshells without holding the pommel. Minor gripes are that the cross is very broad, and not having it impact the forearm during certain motions took a little getting used to. I don't know if it is the case for all of them or is particular to mine, but mine has an odd harmonics where a strike on the flat or to the pommel will cause the blade to vibrate, moreso than any other sword I've owned. But whatever, it encourages proper technique.

Anyway, training with this thing for a while has completely removed any desire to "upgrade" to a high-end blunt. I'll stick with this Blackfencer until it breaks.
